Chennai36 sits inside the International & Alumni Relations (I&AR) ecosystem as the campus’ archive of lived experience. It began as a student-run space that collected the everyday wisdom of IIT Madras, the stories, missteps, shortcuts, and small victories that rarely make it into official brochures but shape how generations have found their way through campus. It creates a bridge between batches. It holds reflections from seniors, graduating students, and alumni who have already navigated the pressures, joys, and blind spots of IITM.
Over time, this has become a repository of memory and mentorship, a place people turn to when they need something human, something real, and something that sounds like someone who has walked the same corridors.
Within I&AR, Chennai36 plays a different role from our databases, events, and councils. It keeps the culture of peer-to-peer guidance alive. It preserves campus intelligence that isn’t captured anywhere else. And it reminds us that alumni relations are built not only on formal networks but also on shared experiences, generosity, and the impulse to pass knowledge forward.
As Chennai36 continues to grow, it stays true to that core. It remains a home for stories that help you make sense of IITM.
